140.6 miles for Ron

Training for a race requires a lot of time and I use this time to help raise funds for others.

About Me

My photo
Liz
I had no idea signing up for an Ironmotivation bike class in 2010 would impact my life so much. In this class I met Ron Foster who encouraged me to reach out to Coach Paul to conquer my fear of swimming. I took his advice and this year I'm attempting my first full Ironman distance triathlon (4K swim, 180K bike, 42K run). Just before Ron represented Canada in Australia he was diagnosed with cancer. With the doctors help he was able to race and achieve his dream of representing Canada. After this race our lives led in different ways and I lost track of my mentor. I would often think of Ron and pray for him. Earlier this year Ron passed away with cancer. My heart breaks every time I think he is no longer with us. This year I'm racing in memory of my mentor and friend Ron and in support of the R.S. McLaughlin Cancer Centre. Ron you were a gentlemen, a great athlete, a mentor and you inspired so many of us. Your memory lives on with each one of us. Each time I jump into the lake it is because of you.
